Next season, The Bachelor will resume its 20-year run on network television. Because some years have had multiple seasons, this will mark the 25th season for the top-rated show. As you probably know, the premise is that a man picks his wife from among several women who essentially audition for the job each week, in front of millions of viewers.
After the first 24 seasons, guess how many couples are still together?
One.
Yes, Sean Lowe and Catherine Giudici, who were married in 2014, are still together. That’s one success story out of 24, or about four percent.
Rather than following an organic process, the contestants on The Bachelor are determine to force the issue. They want to meet the perfect person, execute the perfect wedding, and begin the perfect life now. There is no waiting.
But as the 96 percent failure rate suggests, when we seek answers, we usually get frustrated. But when we seek God, the answers find us.
Recovery Step: “Seek first the kingdom of God” (Matthew 6:33). Then the answers will come.
