It has been reported that John Wesley’s final words were, “The best of all is, God is with us.”
That is a powerful promise. In your addiction, God is with you. In your pain, God is with you. In your betrayal, God is with you. You can’t chase him away. You can’t outrun God. Even in your bad choices and worst moments, God is with you.
Don’t pray for God’s presence. That would be like praying for sunrise just seconds after the sun rose. God’s presence is already there. It’s time to enjoy the benefits of that presence.
Paul embraced the presence of God in his time of need. He wrote, “The Spirit helps us in our weakness” (Romans 8:26).
You don’t need to run to God today. No need to go searching for the one who is already there. No need to find God; he has already found you.
Recovery Step: Trust in the one who is already there.
