I heard someone say, “I’m sure that wherever Mom is right now, she is looking down on us. She’s not dead, she’s just condescending.”
Do you know anyone like that? Someone who thinks they have “arrived”? They have all the answers. They are beyond temptation. They have life – and recovery – all figured out.
Those people scare me. I never want to be the guy who knows it all and has no more struggles. Why? Because it is those struggles that keep me in a perpetual place of desperation.
I was born in the State of Texas. I lived most of my life in the State of Confusion. But I have since moved to the State of Surrender. It’s the only place I ever want to live.
So when you find yourself in the State of Superiority, remember the words of Jesus. “Judge not, that you be not judged” (Matthew 7:1).
Recovery Step: Move to the State of Surrender.
