If you want to know where you will be in five years, take a look at the habits you practice every day right now. A man a lot smarter than me said, “The strength of a man’s virtue should be measured by his habitual acts” (Blaise Pascal).
An extensive research project surveyed some of the world’s most successful men and women, from the world of sports, entertainment, politics, and business. They asked each person to identify the thing that contributed most to their success, from among four choices. (Thus, the total will equal 100 percent.) These were the results:
- Luck – 6 percent
- Talent – 19 percent
- Good decisions – 25 percent
- Consistent habits – 50 percent
Paul said it like this: “Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord” (1 Corinthians 15:58).
Recovery Step: If you want to attain highly successful recovery, you need to establish some consistent habits – and then stick to them. These will probably include daily devotions, prayers, recovery reading, meetings, therapy, calls, recovery days, and more. Make a habit of doing recovery work every day.
