It is important that we be aware of our weak spots. The Bible says, “Through the law we became conscious of our sin” (Romans 3:20).
Substitute the word addiction for sin. Here are four reasons you need to be conscious of your addiction:
- It keeps you tethered to your recovery.
- It keeps you surrendered to your God.
- It keeps you reminded of your weakness.
- It keeps you anchored to your faith.
John Calvin said, “There is no light in the law without Christ.” In other words, we need the law for correction, but we need Christ for redemption.
Recovery Step: Take a moment to thank God for his correction. Ask him to always bring his conviction whenever you stumble or stray.
