“And he said, ‘My presence shall go with you, and I will give you rest’” (Exodus 33:14).
When he was leading the Jewish people from 400 years of Egyptian slavery toward the Promised Land, Moses had to deal with constant complaining and stubbornness. The difficulty of the task led to episodes of temper and depression for Moses.
Moses forgot three very important truths:
- God’s presence
- God’s plan
- God’s power
More important than anything else is God’s presence, with us no matter what. Then I must seek his plan. For each of us, that plan includes total sobriety. Finally, we must tap into the power to carry that out.
Step 2 reminds us that there is a power greater than ourselves that can restore us to sanity.
Recovery Step: Tap into God’s power to fulfill God’s plan as you walk in God’s presence.
