What is the meaning of life?
Tolstoy said, “The sole meaning of life is to serve humanity.”
There is a Chinese saying that goes, “If you want happiness for an hour, take a nap. If you want happiness for a day, go fishing. If you want happiness for a year, inherit a fortune. If you want happiness for a lifetime, help somebody.”
The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics found that just 25 percent of Americans do any kind of volunteer work. It also found that those are generally the happiest people in America.
If you want to be happy, blessed, and fulfilled, make someone else happy, blessed, and fulfilled. The Bible says it like this: “And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased” (Hebrews 13:16).
Recovery Step: Bless someone else today.
