The Lachazi language is spoken in areas of Africa such as Angola. Within their language, a common word is missing. They have no word for “lie.”
But they do have a word for “lies.”
I asked an Angolan missionary about this. He explained, “There is never a single lie. Every lie has another lie. So in our language, we only have . . . lies.”
No one understands this better than an addict. Lies are first cousins to all addictive behaviors. We spend more time covering our activity than doing our activity. We are liars, and we are really good at it.
God is not a fan.
“The Lord hates a lying tongue” (Proverbs 6:16).
Recovery Step: Quit the addictive behaviors. At There’s Still Hope, we can help you with that. But first, you have to commit to total honesty. No more lies.
