Most of us are in a lifelong search for “the one.” We reason: “If I can find the one [fill in the blank] that I’m searching for, I will finally be happy.”
In my own life, I found my “one,” the very best:
- Wife
- Son
- Church
- Home
- Car
- Degree
- Vacation
- Career
- Hobby
Still, it was never enough. The problem is not that we don’t find “the one,” but that we do. And that particular “one” is never enough.
There was a woman whose quest was for “the one.” When she discovered Jesus, she said, “I know the Messiah is coming” (John 4;24). And Jesus responded, “I am the one” (4:26). And with that, the woman’s search was over.
Like that woman, you will never find real peace until you find the right “One.”
Recovery Step: Your porn really isn’t a bad problem as much as it is a bad solution. You are searching for “the one” image, thrill, or experience. But when you find it, you discover that you have been searching for the wrong “one.” The right “One” is available any time. I suggest you seek him now.
