Okay class, what is the opposite of addiction?
I know what you’re thinking. “The opposite of addiction is connection.”
Wrong.
Well, that’s right, but it’s not what I’m thinking. Try this one . . .
The opposite of addiction is . . . subtraction.
Translation – in order to maintain sobriety, you need to subtract some things from your life. Here are a few examples:
- Social media
- Late-night television
- Unhealthy relationships
- Too much time on your phone
- Video games
- Alcohol
- Other?
The Bible says to look to Jesus, “the author and finisher of our faith” (Hebrews 12:2). In order to do that, you probably need to eliminate a few other things from your life.
Recovery Step: The opposite of addiction is subtraction. What do you need to subtract?
