The only reason people fail is that they quit too soon.
Jesus offered this three-fold promise: “Ask and it will be given to you, seek and you shall find, knock and the door will be opened to you” (Matthew 7:7).
All three action words in this verse are what Greek scholars call “linear.” That means that while the action starts at a certain point in time, that action continues on. It’s not a one-time thing. Let me translate that verse more precisely.
“Keep on asking and it will be given to you, keep on seeking and you shall find, keep on knocking and the door will be opened to you.”
Charles Spurgeon quipped, “By perseverance, the snail reached the ark.”
Recovery is about not giving up. Ever.
