I have found that when I seek answers, I find frustration. But when I seek God, answers find me. Do I want a life of sobriety? Absolutely. But more than that, I want God.
I love the way John Piper said it: “To see him and know him and be in his presence is the soul’s final feast.”
Paul said it like this: “I want to know Christ – yes, to know the power of his resurrection and participation in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death” (Philippians 3:10).
I encourage you to wrestle with two questions today:
- Do I really want sobriety?
- Do I really want a close connection with God?
It is when you answer the second question correctly that the first question begins to answer itself.
Recovery Step: Seek God with all your heart, mind, soul, and body. To live in his presence is the soul’s final feast.
