It happened in October 1991. Billy Tyne went out one last time. The sea captain was in search of his largest swordfish ever, as he took a crew out into the North Atlantic on the Andrea Gail. A storm swept the entire crew overboard, where they all perished.
Even the most experienced sea captain is no match for an angry storm. Throughout the gospels, we find repeated accounts of Jesus’ fishermen/disciples being overmatched by sudden storms that erupted over the Sea of Galilee.
In stepped the storm-stopper.
“He stilled the storm to a whisper; the waves of the sea were hushed” (Psalm 107:29).
Throughout biblical history, we read about the storms of life. And for every storm, we find a storm-stopper. That same storm-stopper is standing on your shore today, watching the storms that are brewing on your horizon. He sees the carnage of the next tornado and the furor of the next hurricane – before they strike.
Recovery Step: Don’t wait until you are under a storm warning. Turn your life and will over to the care of the storm-stopper today.
