A dietician was addressing a crowd who wanted to learn how to eat in a healthier way. After his speech, he took questions from the audience.
One person asked, “What food causes more pain and suffering years after its consumption?”
Before the speaker had time to respond, a wise guy yelled out: “That’s easy – a wedding cake.”
Here’s the mistake we often see – conflating the problem with the solution. You see, porn isn’t a bad problem as much as it is a bad solution.
The real problem with each of us, Jesus confirmed, is “what comes from within a man” (Mark 7:15).
In the world of dieticians, you are what you eat. But in the world of recovery, you eat what you are.
Recovery Step: Eating more and more porn is the sign of a more complex issue deep within. We can say, “Step it!” And we do say, “Stop it!” But your issues must be addressed on a deeper level than that.
