On this day in 1905, Wilbur Wright set a world record by flying 24 miles in just 39 minutes. The record stood for three more years. In order to prevent competitors from discovering their secrets to flights of such length and speed, the Wright brothers disassembled the airplane on November 7, 1905.
It is amazing, the lengths we will go to in order to protect our secrets.
I say it a lot – addiction cripples, but secrets kill. I see several problems with keeping secrets.
- Secrets shield you from experiencing grace.
- Secrets force you into a life of isolation.
- Secrets drain you of energy for daily life.
Recovery Step: Someone needs to know your secrets. Otherwise, there will be a price to pay. “God judges the secrets of man” (Romans 2:16).
