One day, Charlie Brown was depressed. Lucy diagnosed the problem: “Charlie Brown, the problem with you is that you’re you.” Charlie responded, “Oh, and what can I do about that?”
Lucy said, “I’m not here to give any prescriptions. I’m just here to point out the problems.”
Do you have people like that in your life – people who just point out the problems?
Let me offer two suggestions:
- Learn to recognize your own problems.
- Encourage others when you are tempted to judge them.
Jesus said it with three short words: “Do not judge” (Luke 6:37).
Recovery Step: We tend to judge ourselves by our intentions, while we judge others by their actions. For the next 20-30 years, try this – don’t judge others at all.
