“Through many dangers, toils and snares, I have already come. Tis grace has brought me safe thus far and grace will lead me home.”
Those immortal words by John Newton have brought comfort to millions, if not billions of saints for the last 250 years. And we need those words – to read, quote, and sing – through periods of trials. If you are reading this right now, I’m pretty sure you get what I’m saying.
In my daily Bible reading, I’m in the Book of Revelation right now. Today’s reading included the following passage.
“He called out in a loud voice to the four angels who had been given power to harm the land and the sea. ‘Do not harm the land and the sea or the trees until we put a seal on the foreheads of the servants of our God’” (Revelation 7:2-3).
Here’s the lesson: God will protect you and provide for you – in the midst of temptations, attack, and persecution. You can make it. You can find recovery. You can become free.
Recovery Step: Philip Yancey wrote, “A God wise enough to create me and the world I live in is wise enough to watch out for me.” Celebrate that truth today!
