There is not enough space to write all the supremely wonderful things Jesus did during the three years of his public ministry. But if we could identify the top ten statements of what Jesus did, this one would rise to the top:
“He loved them to the end” (John 13:1).
Jesus loved his disciples through the good, the bad, and the ugly. When they denied him, he loved them. When they failed him, he loved them. When all but one abandoned him at the cross, he loved them all the same.
There is nothing you have ever done that has made God love you more, and nothing you will ever do will make him love you less. In the words of Augustine, “God is not a deceiver, that he should offer to support us, and then, when we lean upon him, should slip away from us.”
Recovery Step: We all face challenging times. In those times, may the words of Max Lucado be your words: “You can endure change by pondering his permanence.”
