Most of us have the gift of worry. Let’s talk about it.
A lot of us worry about what is coming the next day. Jesus advised against that. He said, “Do not be anxious about tomorrow” (Matthew 6:34). And Charles M. Schulz (Peanuts) said, “Stop worrying about the world ending today. It’s already tomorrow in Australia.”
A study by Penn State University found that only nine percent of the things we worry about actually come true.
Another study found the top five things we worry about:
- Finances
- Health
- Career
- Relationships
- Anxiety
Did you catch #5? Anxiety. We worry about worrying. But worry never helped anything; otherwise, Jesus would have been a proponent of worry rather than an opponent of worry.
Recovery Step: Cast your worries on the Lord. Then walk away from them in freedom.
