“Blessed is the man who perseveres under trial because when he has stood the test, he will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him” (James 1:12).
Andrew Murray was a brilliant pastor and theologian. He has much to say about how God uses our most difficult moments to make us into his personal masterpieces. These are four of his observations.
- When you find yourself in a tough time, know that you are there by God’s appointment.
- You are surrounded by God’s love even in the midst of horrible circumstances.
- God is teaching you something.
- You are on God’s timetable.
There are a lot of people running around saying that if we are truly right with God, we will always be happy. The Hebrew word for that is “bologna.” It’s simply not true.
Recovery Step: Rather than running from tough times, learn from them.
