The question is not whether you will fail, but when you will fail. And what you do next.
Andrew Stanton, the director behind Toy Story, offered wise counsel: “Fail early and fail fast. Be wrong as fast as you can.”
In other words, learn from your mistakes. Let your failures instruct your future, and move on quickly. Take on the attitude of Paul whose mantra was, “forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead” (Philippians 3:13).
Success is dependent on two things:
- Forgetting the past
- Forging the future
You can’t do the second until you do the first. You will never move forward by looking back. Your past is your instructor, not your prison.
Recovery Step: When you fall, get up quickly and move forward.
