A patient was pleased with his medical exam. The doctor looked him over and said, “You seem to be in very good shape. You must get a good bit of exercise.”
The patient explained, “Yes, doctor, I do. In fact, just yesterday, I walked five miles over rugged terrain as I climbed over rocks and hills. I waded through water, pushed my way through bushes, and climbed several sandy slopes.”
The doctor was quite impressed. “Where did you do all of this?” he asked.
The patient answered, “On the golf course.”
Jesus promised, “In this world, you will have trouble” (John 16:33). There are two groups among us for whom this is especially true: golfers and addicts.
Recovery Step: If sobriety was easy, everyone would do it. Expect challenges. Prepare for trouble. But never forget that you have the best Caddie in the world.
