“He has filled them with skill to do all kinds of work as engravers, designers, embroiderers in blue, purple, and scarlet yarn and fine linen, and weavers – all of them skilled workers and designers” (Exodus 35:35).
Longitudinal studies have shown that as we age, the cognitive center of gravity tends to shift from the right brain to the left brain. This is an oversimplification, but the left brain is the locus of logic. The right brain is the locus of imagination. That neurological tendency poses a problem: at some point, most of us stop living out of imagination and start living out of memory. We stop creating the future and start repeating the past. We stop living by faith and start living by logic. That is when we stop living and start dying.
But it doesn’t have to be that way.
You won’t “logic” your way out of addiction. You have to get creative. You must do the things you’ve never done in order to reach the places you’ve never reached. Pray for fresh vision. Pray for new ideas. Pray for creativity.
Pray for imagination.
