Jesus set the example for how to live a good life, early on. At the age of 12, he already knew his calling and he knew his business. He said, “Did you not know that I must be about my Father’s business?” (Luke 2:49).
At the end of his life, Jesus told his Father, “I have done all that you gave me to do” (John 17:4).
With those two statements, Jesus offered bookends to the best life ever lived.
In life, we need to answer two questions:
- What’s my business?
- How’s business?
Like Jesus, we need focus. We must focus on the things that are our business, and let everything else go. As William James said, “The art of being wise is the art of knowing what to overlook.”
Recovery Step: In recovery and life, you need to answer two questions. What’s your business? How’s business?
