There is no power like the power of focus. We need it in our relationships, spiritual development, at work, and in recovery.
For example, psychologist Traci Stein suggests a unique technique to maintain focus at work. It’s called the “Pomodoro Technique,” which is based on working for 25 minutes, and then taking a five-minute break, throughout the day.
Alexander Graham Bell used this analogy: “The sun’s rays do not burn until brought to a focus.”
Let’s carry this over to recovery. To be successful, you must maintain a laser focus on a few basic things:
- Daily devotions
- Recovery meetings
- Working a plan
Recovery Step: Pray this simple prayer – “Lord, give me an undivided heart” (Psalm 86:11).
