Abraham was 75 years old when he was promised offspring that would bless the world for generations to follow. After a long wait for his promised son, Abraham became discouraged, as his heart filled with doubt. It was then that God took him on a short road trip.
“God took him outside and said, ‘Look up at the sky and count the starts – if you can. So shall your offspring be’” (Genesis 15:5).
For each of us, God has promised blessings we cannot yet see. Here are three keys to unlocking those blessings.
1. God wants to bless you. “We love him because he first loved us” (John 4:19).
2. Blessings are a choice. “Choose life, so that you may live” (Deuteronomy 30:19).
3. You must fear the Lord. “Blessed is the man who fears the Lord” (Psalm 112:1).
Recovery Step: Perhaps your personal struggles have robbed you of peace and joy. That can all change. God stands ready to shower you with blessings if you choose to walk with him.
