“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth” (1 Corinthians 13:4-8).
Ten Valentine’s gifts you can give your wife:
- No more secrets
- Regular check-ins
- Give her time
- Work your program
- Pray for her
- One day at a time
- Build new guardrails
- Go easy with gifts
- Don’t ask for forgiveness
- Stay sober
Let me explain two of these, guys. Go easy with gifts. By that, I mean that you should not expect a bouquet of roses or box of candy to do anything to remove the trauma. And when I say to not ask for forgiveness, I mean you need to give a disclosure and make amends. Don’t ask her for anything early in the process – including forgiveness. If your wife decides to forgive, that is up to her – on her own timing.
Recovery Step: Have a great Valentine’s Day!
