The prophet asked, “Do you seek great things for yourself?” (Jeremiah 45:5).
I suspect all of us would answer this question with a resounding “yes.” But true happiness does not come from seeking things. It comes from seeking God.
Oswald Chambers said, “There is nothing easier than getting into the right relationship with God, unless it is not God you seek, but only what he can give you. If you have only come as far as asking God for things, you have never come to the point of understanding the least bit of what surrender really means.”
Recovery begins with surrender to your Higher Power. Seeking recovery before surrendering to God is like scoring runs before the baseball game begins.
Recovery Step: If you want recovery, start with surrender. If you want success, start with surrender. It’s what T.W. Tozer called “the first law of coming to God.” And it works.
