The Internet has taken the porn industry to a whole new level, providing what is known as the “triple-A engine” effect: accessibility, affordability, and anonymity. And the results have been devastating.
The Kinsey Institute has found that men’s use of porn has resulted in 86 percent of them finding reduced sexual quality with their partners. Dr. Patricia Morokoff’s research has reached similar conclusions: “When men used porn, they tended to report lower levels of sexual intimacy in their real-life relationships.” And a British documentary, “Porn on the Brain,” found that the brains of compulsive porn users resemble the brains of alcoholics watching ads for a drink.
Porn is a serious problem, but not one that should have caught us by surprise.
Jesus said, “Everyone who looks at a woman with lustful intent has already committed adultery with her in his heart” (Matthew 5:28).
Recovery Step: Porn, or any other form of lust, is forbidden, for our own protection. If you are mired in a porn habit, get help – now.
