Jesus said, “When you pray, do not be like the hypocrites” (Matthew 6:5). Don’t focus on the last part of that verse, but the first part – when you pray.
When. Not if.
When you pray. When, when, when.
Maybe you are at a loss for words sometimes, and that’s why you don’t pray more. No problem. Let me help you. Pray this prayer of St. Francis of Assisi:
“Lord, make me an instrument of thy peace. Where there is hatred, let me sow love. Where there is injury, pardon; where there is doubt, faith; where there is despair, hope; where there is darkness, light; and where there is sadness, joy.”
There is no excuse for not praying.
Recover Step: If you are to complete the journey of recovery, you must first learn to walk on your knees.
