If you are a recovering sex addict, you probably get frustrated that you don’t see progress and change as quickly as you might like. If you are married to an addict, you have certainly had moments of doubt when you don’t see God working in your spouse the way you had expected.
Hold on!
Salman Rushdie observed, “Most of what matters in your life takes place in your absence.”
Write this down: God is at work when you don’t see him.
Joyce Meyer wrote, “Sadly, we are so accustomed to only believing what we see right in front of us with our natural sight. If we don’t see God doing something, then we assume he’s not doing anything. But the truth is, he’s always working, and if we’ll just believe that and keep our hope in him, then we will see evidence of his work in his time and in his way.”
Recovery Step: Don’t take my word for it. God himself said, “Before they call, I will answer; while they are still speaking, I will hear” (Isaiah 65:24).
