Setting goals is not the problem. The problem is setting the right goals, and then sticking with them. Make no mistake. God wants you to set goals and he wants you to be successful. We read, “May God give you the desire of your heart and make your plans succeed” (Psalm 20:4).
So why do our goals fail so often? In many cases, the problem is that we set the wrong goals. Let me give you some examples of some goals that will always fall flat. Goals will fall flat if they are:
- Unclear
- Uninspired
- Unworthy
- Unplanned
- Unwritten
- Unspectacular
Ask God to give you the right desires that will lead to the right goals. Then put your hand to the plow. Go all in with your heart, your mind, and your recovery.
Recovery Step: Do two things. Set the right goals. Then pursue them with singleness of heart.
