Tim Allen said, “Men are liars. I’m an algebra liar. I figure two good lies make a positive.”
The Bible says, “Lying lips are an abomination to the Lord” (Proverbs 12:22).
For most of us, especially men, honesty is a huge problem. Research has found that men tell six lies a day. (Women tell three.)
The most common things men lie about: (a) their height, (b) their feelings, (c) their sexual performance, (d) their mistakes, and (e) their fantasies.
Why do we lie? For some, we want to avoid conflict. Others lie to avoid embarrassment. And many of us lie to avoid the consequences of our behavior or out of fear of losing our spouse.
Recovery Step: I offer two suggestions. First, quit lying. Second, quit doing the things that you will be tempted to lie about.
