Henri Nouwen wrote, “Our society is not a community radiant with the love of Christ, but a dangerous network of domination and manipulation in which we can easily get entangled and lose our soul.”
Translation – We live in a fallen world.
The Bible is like this: “God gave them up to dishonorable passions” (Romans 1:26). And this: “Just as sin came into the world through one man, and death through sin, death spread to all men because all sinned” (Romans 5:12).
What does this all mean? It means that we aren’t sinners because we sin; we win because we’re sinners. And we aren’t addicts because we act out; we act out because we’re addicts.
Recovery Step: You don’t have a behavior problem. You have a heart problem. So in order to get to the root of the problem, you need to get to the heart of the problem.
