Christmas is the season when you buy this year’s gifts with next year’s money.
That’s also how we live in addiction. The pleasure of the moment is robbing us of the blessings of tomorrow. The mistakes I make today will affect my life tomorrow, in so many ways:
- My marriage
- My checkbook
- My shame
- My career
- My peace of mind
The answer? As we approach Christmas, make wise decisions – with your time, money, and your thought life. As I tell guys all the time, the only thing that will determine tomorrow’s sobriety is today’s choices. So choose carefully.
Recovery Step: “The Lord favors those who fear him” (Psalm 147:11). Honor God today, and he will bless you tomorrow.
