In The Green Mile, Tom Hanks’ character said, “I guess sometimes the past just catches up with you, whether you want it to or not.”
Way back in the early part of Scripture we find this verse: “If you have sinned against the Lord, be sure your sin will find you out” (Numbers 32:23).
Translation: your past catches up with you, whether you want it to or not.
That leaves you with two choices: (a) own it, or (b) run from it and lose.
I suggest you own it, because here’s the thing. Exposing your past will not cripple you; it will heal you!
I’ll say it another way – God will not use you despite your past, but because of it.
Recovery Step: Own your past, learn from it, then let God use it.
